Farm & Acreage Appraisal
Agriculture is important to Alberta and it’s important to us. Alberta is one of the world’s top producing agricultural economies, with over 70,000 farmers and a diverse range of agricultural operations, from cattle to canola. Farm appraisals are an important focus at HarrisonBowker as well as an interest for many of our staff. In fact, developing and expanding our knowledge of agricultural market trends and property valuation methods is an ongoing commitment of our training program, where we focus on both working farms and hobby farms.
Working Farms
We have significant experience and expertise in the valuation of multi-parcel farming operations. From large cropping operations to cattle ranches in the foothills, our appraisers are well-versed in evaluating the productive capabilities of:
- Agricultural land
- Livestock operations
- Equine properties
Of course, like farming operations, no one appraisal fits all. Albertan farmers come to us to help them for a myriad reasons. Our farm appraisals can help you with:
- Selling or buying a farm
- Tax evaluations (capital gains)
- Succession planning
Hobby Farms
Hobby farms are typically considered to be hybrids between a farm and a rural residential property. Since we routinely appraise both residential and agricultural properties, we are well-qualified to value hobby farms. Lenders recognize this and use us heavily to value such properties throughout Alberta.
